The highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 cult classic, Blade Runner 2047 was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael K. Cimino based on Philip K. Dick's novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'. Released in 2016 after a long gestational period that saw multiple writers attached and detached from the project over two decades.

The film takes place thirty years after events concluded in its predecessor, Blade Runner (1982), with humanity having retreated into self-enclosed settlements known as 'pits' due to environmental disaster. LAPD Officer K, played by Ryan Gosling's titular character is a skilled blade runner tasked with hunting down rogue androids like himself who have managed their way out of these fortified areas.

In this latest installment we follow our hero as he unearths an ancient secret that threatens everything still left standing - because when people learn there were once others just like them but made from metal instead of meat things tend to get very messy fast!

The movie opens with K (Gosling) tracking down a group of rogue androids on the outskirts of Los Angeles. During this mission, he discovers a valuable artifact that leads him back into his past and sets off an adventure filled with action sequences, suspenseful moments, and philosophical musings about humanity's place in society.

The film explores themes such as what it means to be human when technology has advanced so far that even artificial intelligence can mimic our thoughts and feelings. It also delves deeper into the consequences of playing God by creating life forms like androids who are almost indistinguishable from real humans but lack their emotional depth due to being programmed rather than born.

Throughout his journey, K encounters various characters including replicants (androids) such as Rachael (Sean Young), whose memories he relives throughout much of the film. There's also Deckard (Harrison Ford reprising his role), a former blade runner now living in exile on Titan who becomes entangled once again with events unfolding back home.
